Simone Kalmakis, VP of Engineering at Viam, is a leader at the intersection of AI, data, robotics, and automation. She has spent her career solving complex engineering challenges and driving AI innovation that makes machines and devices smarter, safer, and more efficient. Simone got her start at Microsoft, developing machine-learned relevance algorithms, and then founded Symbi, a roommate compatibility platform she later sold. She was then Director of Engineering at healthtech Flatiron Health and Senior Director of Engineering at DC-based climate startup Arcadia.
