Kayla-Jade Butkow is CTO and co-founder of auryx, a Cambridge-based deep tech startup turning audible sound into health insights using AI, starting with everyday earbuds. Her PhD at the University of Cambridge produced the first published work demonstrating that machine learning can extract vital signs from in-ear audio under real-world motion conditions, becoming highly cited research that established a new field of AI application. She co-founded auryx in 2025 to commercialise that work directly. auryx is an all-female founded company on a mission to make continuous cardiovascular monitoring accessible to anyone, anywhere.
